Significant Contributions
As a Principal UX Designer, the following are a few of my significant contributions to the Product Departments and related 'Business Units' that I have been working so far.
IBSo (Innovative Business Solutions) at SAP develop custom applications on top of SAP’s core products. It addresses the unique needs of the customers by designing & develop extensions based on their requirements. SAP proposes Fiori as a standard design solution. However, some of the customers are unhappy about the limitations of Fiori in terms of look & feel and its aesthetics. At the same time, they expect a standard & robust solution from SAP.
To address their issue, we created UX portfolio and this has become a mandatory document to run through with the customers during the starting phase of the project, to create awareness about various design approaches, Fiori, Theme Designer, Portal Service and Freestyle that are available at SAP.

UX Business & Engagement Model With Third Party Services
I've defined the business model for hiring designers and UI developers for various projects. Extentia is one of the preferred SAP partners who send consultants to SAP. However, considering the ad-hoc environment at IBSo, we created a business engagement model that suited for both parties.
UX Estimation
& Delivery Methodology
In general, UX team gets numerous requests from GTM (Go to Market), for ex: supporting for Business Case documents by adding wireframes, clickthrough prototypes, visual designs, research process, etc. While the team works on these, the GTM team also needs to estimate for UX work. However, the BU didn't have any standard documents or processes which provide clarity about both UX deliverables and UX resource estimation. To address this need, the following were created.
-
UX deliverables document provides the info about the kind of deliverables that GTM team gets with the info given.
-
UX estimation document was created to help them with the UX resource utilization
UX Governance
UX Governance Methodology was introduced at IBSo to have a structured approach of UX gates process and have the following benefits:
-
Better planning of UX Design Efforts to prevent effort overruns
-
The optimized set of UX Design activities relevant for a project
-
To influence Design Quality
-
To increase customer satisfaction
-
To get an assurance that the expected design quality has made it into the final product.
I was a co-author of this process. It has been reviewed and approved by BU head. The implementation of this process started in Oct 2018.
Apart from my lead activities, I supported the team as a mentor and coach on a few occasions when they sought help. Though I'm not a certified Mentor / Coach, I like to help others when they need guidance.
-
Mentor the juniors & interns for their work-related and career-related queries
-
Advised them with their career development planning, goal settings and how do they need to align with the org's vision
-
Helped the team to sort out their conflicts between themselves
-
Coach for a few when sought for career decisions and conflicts with their colleagues
